Cloud 9 vs Revelry: Post-match recap
Published by: Alexander Vasarab on December 22, 2005As luck would have it, the night that GGL Americup Invite's only two 2-0 teams go up against each other head-to-head, Cloud 9's starter and lead strat caller has a motherboard meltdown and it fries. Forced to sub-in a rusty backup, and after an agitated server debate, the match nonetheless gets under way.
Trying to put the inevitable behind us, we took the Allied side to open up the first half. Rounds went back and forth in a tug-of-war fashion. At half-time, the scoreboard displays a modest 5-5 record.
Suiting up as the Axis forces, our mentality has been restored and victory is definitely within reach. This is due in part to Matmata's history as an Axis-sided map.
When the half got under way, however, the reality of the situation was made blatantly obvious. Our defense had a huge hole which we had always worried about; that hole was middle roof. Round after round, Revelry threw their team at that location and, in no way his fault, our trusty backup could not fend off the enemy.
The moral of the story? Always have a good backup. Just kidding, however, possessing the hindsight that we gained from this match, we will be insuring that for every matchup we have in the future a normal member is on to fill in a spot if something disasterous should happen.
Our next match, versus End Effect, will be played on the 28th of December. We're going to try to play it from the LAN center so that we can keep on schedule with our matches.
Finally, great game to Revelry. Well-played. Stay tuned for up-to-date information on our Cyberzone LAN results next week, as well as results for the rest of our GGL Americup 2 Invite season!
